Is There Really a Shortage of Information Security Workers?

Cybersecurity professional Ben Rothke argued that the reported shortage of cybersecurity workers may be due to lack of understanding in HR about how to hire such professionals, rather than a real shortage. In addition, there is no verifiable data to conclude how many information security jobs currently exist. Helen Patton, veteran information security professional and CISO at Cisco Security Business Group, suggests fixing the hiring process rather than training new people to address the issue.
