The divide between Democrats and Republicans on abortion is the widest it has ever been, according to the Public Religion Research Institute. Over eight in 10 Democrats believe abortion should be legal in most or all cases, whereas about one third of Republicans hold the same view. While Democrats’ and Independents’ approval of abortion legality has increased, Republicans’ views have remained steady.
