This feature tracks the sequence and addresses of ‘branches’ in software. The research, led by UC San Diego, resulted in Intel and AMD issuing security alerts. The researchers demonstrated the ability to capture branch outcomes in order, and also conducted a highly precise poisoning attack, which can lead to the execution of unintended code.
