Russian man Dmitry Yuryevich Khoroshev has been unmasked by US federal prosecutors as ‘LockBitSupp’, leading one of the most prolific ransomware groups called LockBit. They believe he has extorted around $500 million from 2,500 victims globally, causing damages amounting to billions of dollars, including severe operational disruption. He now faces a total of 185 years in prison if proven guilty, and US, UK and Australia have imposed sanctions and offered a $10 million reward for any information leading to his arrest.
