St Helens Council suspected cyber-attack caused significant disruption

St Helens Council suffered a cyberattack on 21 August, causing significant disruption when key systems were lost. The attack resulted in data being stolen and exported to the cloud. Many staff and teams were affected, but systems were quickly restored. The incident was successfully contained by 21 August and a recovery plan was put into action. The authority’s technical response teams worked swiftly to identify the source and contain the attack.
