RSV vaccine 78% effective against infection in veterans: 5 study notes

A study revealed a respiratory syncytial virus (RSV) vaccine was 78% effective amongst older US veterans in 2023-2024, also reducing hospitalizations and emergency department visits. However, only 24% of adults above 60 received the vaccine. Unvaccinated veterans with weakened immune systems experienced the highest RSV infection rates, highlighting the vaccine’s significance.
