Latin American cybercriminal groups such as Lux Plague and Spalax, while less advanced than global ransomware cartels like Lockbit, have enhanced their attack tactics in recent years, according to Camilo Gutiérrez of cybersecurity firm ESET. During the second day of the ESET Latin America Cybersecurity Forum, speakers discussed “crimeware” (the sale of malicious programs) and services provided by hackers, many of whom handily offer updates like regular programs and technical support.
