How best to manage, or dump, legacy healthcare IT systems

According to a 2021 HIMSS survey, 73% of healthcare provider organizations still use legacy information systems that are expensive and difficult to maintain. The CEO of Legacy Data Access states that the cost of retiring these systems is a challenge for organizations, and IT leaders are seeking more flexible pricing options. The Great Resignation is also impacting healthcare organizations’ ability to handle legacy systems, as senior-level IT turnover is a concern. Furthermore, retiring legacy systems after mergers or acquisitions requires careful planning and coordination to manage data and minimize risk.
