DP World Australia temporarily disconnected from the internet to handle possible fallout from a cyber attack. The attack, speculated to be ransomware related, affected the company’s operations in Brisbane, Melbourne, Perth, Sydney leaving about 30,000 cargo containers stuck at ports. As cyber attacks become more frequent and sophisticated, long-term strategies including improved supply chain security and data protection are needed, with experts suggesting tactics like isolating cyber events and using distributed databases.
