Approximately 75,000 individuals had their files accessed in a breach of Healthcare.gov, the enrollment platform for the Affordable Care Act, according to the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS). The breach was detected in the direct enrollment pathway for agents and brokers. Although 75,000 is a small fraction of consumer records, CMS considers any breach to be unacceptable. CMS is working to resolve the issue and implement additional security measures within the next seven days.
