AI downloads from shady sources might be infected with malware

Hackers are capitalising on the popularity of AI by tricking users into downloading malware disguised as AI tools on social media platforms. Reports from Talos and Google’s Mandiant reveal campaigns distributing malware through AI services ads, often claiming to offer free or cheap premium access. The malware can steal login credentials, control infected systems, and deploy ransomware. Users are advised to avoid dubious AI apps, conduct checks on unfamiliar sites, and regularly rotate passwords and backup data.
