AHA urges Congress to reject cybersecurity proposal in HHS budget request

The American Hospital Association (AHA) has raised objections to proposed penalties for healthcare providers not meeting new cybersecurity guidelines in President Biden’s 2025 Health and Human Services budget request. AHA argued that the penalties, which could include Medicare payment cuts, would deplete resources needed to combat cyber threats and stressed the need for an overall defensive strategy involving all health sector entities.
