AHA rebuts OCR’s attempt to revise online tracking rules

The American Hospital Association (AHA) has challenged a bulletin from the HHS Office for Civil Rights, saying its rules on online tracking tools for health systems and other HIPAA Covered Entities are too broad and restrictive. The AHA argues this could prevent healthcare providers from communicating crucial health information to the communities they serve. The dispute arises after a Massachusetts court’s consideration of two class action suits concerning patient privacy violations via pixel tracking tools.
