Healthcare software provider Phreesia’s telehealth platform ConnectOnCall was struck by a data breach affecting over 910,000 patients from February to May 2024. An unknown hacker accessed provider-patient communication data including names, contact details, medical records, birth dates, health conditions, treatments, and in some cases, social security numbers. Phreesia has notified affected individuals and offered identity and credit monitoring services to those whose social security numbers were exposed, while the breached platform has been taken offline temporarily.
HIPAA to be updated with cybersecurity regulations, White House says
The US Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) will propose new cybersecurity rules under the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA). These updated
