The US Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) will propose new cybersecurity rules under the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA). These updated regulations, the first in over a decade, will require healthcare entities to encrypt user data and enhance network monitoring for cybersecurity threats, costing the sector an estimated $9bn in the first year.
