HHS is at risk as it has not fully implemented cybersecurity recommendations from the Government Accountability Office (GAO), risking its leadership duties, according to a report. The report found conflicting cyber requirements between CMS and other federal agencies. It also raised concerns about HHS’ cooperation with the Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA) to reduce ransomware risk. Until these are addressed, HHS risks adverse effects on healthcare providers and patient care, stated GAO.
