Anxiety vs. stress: The right definition will lead to better mental-health care

Patients often present stress as anxiety, leading to potential overmedication, suggests an article co-authored by a family doctor. The authors advocate social prescriptions – directing patients to social or community activities – to reduce stress. More research is needed to demonstrate the impact of such prescriptions, and the authors plan to run a pilot and then a randomized controlled trial, given the lack of high-quality evidence currently available.
