Research by companion care provider, Papa, on nearly 29,000 Medicare Advantage members revealed 41% are lonely and 22% are severely lonely, with those who are disabled or have special needs being the most affected. Lonely members were 73% more likely to face transportation issues. Papa’s founder Andrew Parker argued that companies offering “Pals” to help with socialisation and transport could ease caregiver burnout and reduce healthcare costs.
