Indian internet users are putting their personal data at risk with poor password hygiene and use of easy-to-remember passcodes like “123456” which can be easily cracked, revealed a study by NordPass. Many users compromise security for convenience, especially for shared accounts like streaming platforms. The researchers advocate for adoption of passkeys, a more secure, automatic form of authentication. The study analysed a 6.6TB database of exposed passwords, revealing that 70% of passwords globally could be cracked in less than a second.
