Right then, have you folks heard the news? The old LockBit leak site, which was previously taken under control by a team of law enforcement agencies in Operation Cronos, has seen a revival! One must say it’s all a bit of an exciting mystery.
You might remember earlier this year, in February, when the listing of LockBit victims were all covered with teasers hinting at the juicy titbits law enforcement planned to release. Again, we saw this site come back to life last Sunday with more tantalising teasers about what secrets will be disclosed next. Could there be any twists in the tale as thrilling as in February when they blew the lid off and announced they’d seized 34 servers and freeze-framed over 200 cryptocurrency accounts? And, remember those arrests and the free decryptor they had for the poor LockBit victims?
These new teasers floating around pose just about the same intriguing situation. They indicate a strong potential of revealing more of those rascally LockBit hackers. However, the golden question remains – “Who is LockBitSupp?” The suspense is definitely tickling our curiosity. Isn’t it?
Will law enforcement unmask this shadowy character, or better yet, announce an arrest? We saw the same question crop up in February, but it ended without any drumroll. So, before your imagination runs wild imagining LockBitSupp in manacles, knowledgeable insiders who’ve had a natter with him over the last couple of days informed us he’s well out of clutches, and alive and kicking. It appears his public activities are stirring the pot as he reposts a heap of old listings. But, one can only guess what tomfoolery he might be up to behind closed doors.
Even though some folks are hopeful, it doesn’t seem very likely that law enforcement will announce his arrest. Recall, we were told last time that he isn’t hidden in the USA. But, did anyone genuinely think that was the case? I remember feeling a wee bit stupid when I couldn’t recall why we supposed LockBitSupp was cooling it in Kazakhstan. But hey, we’ll have to just wait and hear what the long arm of the law reveals to us next.
Now, in contrast with February where releases were doled out over several days, this time all the new releases are lined up to be unveiled all at once, scheduled on Tuesday morning at 14:00:00 UTC (that’s 10:00 am Eastern, in case you were wondering). So, keep an eye out, and let’s see what this twist in the tale brings next!
