Nation-state cyberattacks are increasing, targeting small and medium-sized businesses (SMBs) contributing to the Defense Industrial Base (DIB). According to the DIB Cybersecurity Maturity Report, almost 60% of companies experienced four or more compromised accounts in 2020, with 46% reporting cybersecurity-related incidents costing over $100,000. The Department of Defense is aiming to protect its contractors with cybersecurity compliance requirements. Companies are also advised to boost their Supplier Performance Risk System (SPRS) scores to improve their cybersecurity maturity model certification (CMMC) readiness.
