Why isn’t medical advertising regulated like other advertising?

News outlets often report on alleged medical advancements found in journals as fact, providing free advertising to pharmaceutical companies. Yet, many of these reportings are merely advertising claims by the companies that manufacture the related drugs, indicating a clear conflict of interest. Two such examples are the dementia-reducing benefits of the shingles vaccine and rapid-weight loss drugs like Ozempic.
