Why cyberattacks against Australian organisations are increasing

Australia has seen a surge of data breaches over the past year, significantly impacting the country’s infrastructure and government services. The breaches have been largely attributed to exposed personal identifiable information (PII) and API vulnerabilities. These incidents have created significant costs associated with rebuilding and investigating system failures, reissuing documents, and paying potential fines. Regulations in Australia may not be hindering cyber defences, but experts suggest they’re also not necessarily improving the situation.
