Global leaders have reaffirmed commitment to defeating meningitis. At a meeting co-hosted by World Health Organization (WHO) and the Government of France, leaders pledged to implement the global roadmap “Defeating Meningitis by 2030”. Following Nigeria’s successful rollout of an effective new vaccine, the plan aims to holistically tackle meningitis and provide rehabilitation to survivors. If fully funded, the roadmap could prevent almost 3 million cases and at least 900,000 deaths by 2030.
