What PowerSchool isn’t saying about its ‘massive’ student data breach

US edtech firm PowerSchool has suffered a large-scale data breach potentially affecting millions of students. PowerSchool’s student information system, used by more than 18,000 US schools to manage enrolment, attendance, and grades, was accessed via compromised credentials on its customer support portal. The firm has declined to answer multiple queries about the scale and specifics of the breach, and has not yet confirmed how much data was stolen, who the attackers were, or how much ransom was paid.
