What is the CIA Triad?

The CIA (Confidentiality, Integrity, Availability) triad is a model used to guide information security policies within organizations. Confidentiality restricts access to data, integrity ensures the data is accurate and trustworthy, and availability ensures reliable access to data by authorized individuals. This model assists organizations in developing security policies and assessing potential new technologies. Implementing the CIA triad can offer benefits such as improved data security and privacy, compliance, risk prevention and access to reliable data. However, it also poses challenges around large data volumes, data stewardship, IoT security, and security in product development.
