The addition of COVID-19 to winter’s repertoire of diseases means that overall infections will never return to pre-pandemic rates. The past two years have been less severe in regards to well-known and tracked viruses, but the combination of flu, RSV, and COVID-19, as well as other airway viruses, means that more people are likely to get sick each year. Health precautions may help curb the spread, but without major efforts in vaccination and preventive measures, diseases and death rates will continue to be a normal part of life.
