‘We have no idea’: Regulators in the dark about rising power grid attacks

A surge in attacks on the US electricity grid has led to concerns about communication gaps between law enforcement and state and federal regulators. Despite a record number of incidents, no single agency holds a full log of such events. Law enforcement officers have blamed far-right extremists for the rise in grid incidents. Many of these have involved gun assaults on critical infrastructure. The North American Electric Reliability Corp noticed substantial increases in incidents during the 2020 and 2022 election cycles.
