Watch Out for Malicious QR Codes Sent Through the Mail

Swiss cyber security authorities are warning individuals not to scan QR codes received via mail claiming to be from MeteoSwiss, a federal meteorology office. The QR code leads to the download of a malicious app named ‘Coper’ or ‘Octo2’, which steals data from the phone, including banking app information. The malware specifically targets Android phones and can also enable hackers to control the victim’s phone.
