Republicans, led by President-elect Donald Trump, may seek to weaken or repeal the Affordable Care Act (ACA), also known as Obamacare, potentially leading to increases in the uninsured rate and premium costs and diminishing patient protections. Proposed alterations could take many forms and meet significant hurdles, including procedural impediments, intra-party disagreement and public popularity of the ACA’s protections.
