Private information and medical records of 18 million US veterans have been jeopardised by the temporary removal of the Data Loss Prevention (DLP) endpoint from the Veterans Affairs Department’s cybersecurity programme, according to officials and contractors. The lack of the DLP system, part of VA’s $6 billion IT budget, exposes veterans’ data to mishandling or misuse, unless replaced.
