Van Nuys Man Pleads Guilty to Malware Scheme

A 25-year-old man from Van Nuys, Edmond Chakhmakhchyan, has pleaded guilty to scheming to sell malware designed to give purchasers control over computers, enabling them to steal personal information and private communications. Chakhmakhchyan marketed a device as an interception device, a move punishable with up to five years in jail. He accepted payment in Bitcoin and even provided customer service to those who bought the malware.
