US senators question Ascension on its Google collaboration Project Nightingale

Google’s collaboration with healthcare provider Ascension on Project Nightingale, which involves patient data, has raised concerns among patients, providers, and legislators. Senators Elizabeth Warren, Richard Blumenthal, and Bill Cassidy sent a letter to Ascension expressing their concerns and requesting more information on patient consent, privacy, and data security. They also questioned the number of Google employees with access to the data and whether patients were notified about the use of their data. This highlights the ongoing concern about patient privacy as big tech companies enter the healthcare industry.
