The US government has hit back at cybercrime group BlackCat, accessing its computer systems via an undercover informant and taking down several of its websites. The operation developed a tool which enabled over 500 victims of the Russian-speaking ransomware gang to decrypt their locked files. The tool has reportedly saved multiple victims from ransom demands totalling about $68m.
