UPMC, a renowned medical center, has reported that the number of employees affected by a recent data breach is much higher than originally stated. Initially, it was reported that 322 employees had their tax information stolen, but UPMC now believes that almost 27,000 of their total 62,000 employees may be victims of the breach. The compromised information includes social security numbers, and at least 788 employees have already had their information used for fraudulent tax returns.
