Update on cyber attack after hospitals declare ‘major incident’

A cyber attack on the Wirral University Teaching Hospital NHS Foundation Trust led to the trust declaring a “major incident”, affecting all its hospitals. Appointments have been cancelled, staff had to manually handle tasks, systems holding records have been shut down and patient services like x-rays were not functioning on the day of the attack. The local authority and the trust are working together to manage this situation.
