UnitedHealth’s cyberattack should be a ‘wake-up call’ for healthcare

The U.S. Health and Human Services Department (HHS) is working to reboot healthcare systems after a cyberattack caused by Russian ransomware group, BlackCat, on UnitedHealth Group’s subsidiary, Change Healthcare. The attack resulted in significant disruption to the processing of various healthcare payments and prior authorisations. UnitedHealth Group admitted multiple layers of its services had been affected and confirmed it was striving to find workarounds to resurrect operations.
