UnitedHealth Group confirmed it paid a ransom after a cyberattack on its subsidiary Change Healthcare in February. The attack resulted in compromised patient files, but there was no evidence of full medical histories being taken. The ransom amount was undisclosed but thought to be around $22 million in bitcoin. UnitedHealth Group is working with law enforcement and cybersecurity firms throughout the investigation and has taken steps to safeguard affected individuals, including offering credit monitoring services.
