UnitedHealth Paid $22 Million Ransom to Hackers, CEO Confirms : Tech : Tech Times

UnitedHealth, America’s largest health insurance provider, paid $22 million to ransomware group BlackCat after a subsidiary, Change Healthcare, was hacked. The February breach, involving over six terabytes of data, put strain on payment and claims processing for healthcare firms. Even after the payment, some patient data is still available on the dark web. The breach is already estimated to have cost UnitedHealth approximately $900 million, excluding the ransom.
