UnitedHealth Confirms Data Theft From Change Healthcare, ‘Substantial’ Number Of Americans Possibly Impacted

UnitedHealth Group, the American health insurance giant, confirmed that a significant amount of personal health data may have been stolen in the cyberattack on Change Healthcare. The stolen files contain protected health information or personally identifiable information. The company said it will take months to identify and notify affected individuals and customers, and it is yet to see evidence of exfiltration of materials like doctors’ charts or full medical records among the stolen data.
