Uncovering Craniopharyngioma’s Growth Mechanism May Identify New Therapy

Researchers from the Chinese Academy of Sciences have made significant discoveries into treating craniopharyngioma. The team, led by Wu Qingfeng, created two animal models to understand tumor growth and identified a promising treatment in amlodipine besylate, a hypertension drug. The substance interrupted chemical transmissions between hypothalamic neurons and tumor cells, inhibiting tumor growth. Further trials are required to validate its efficacy on patients.
