UMC Health System was targeted in a cyber attack that compromised some patient files containing personal and health data. Suspecting a cyber attack after detecting unusual activities in its systems, UMC secured its networks, while notifying law enforcement. During investigations, it discovered that the attack occurred between 16 and 26 September, in which the criminals deployed ransomware. The perpetrators remain unknown.
