Ukrainian national, Mark Sokolovsky, has pleaded guilty to running the Raccoon Infostealer malware operation and agreed to pay over $900k in restitution. Arrested in 2022, he was extradited to the US from the Netherlands in 2024. The malware, capable of stealing personal data, was sold as a service for $200 monthly in cryptocurrency. Despite the FBI disrupting the malware’s infrastructure following Sokolovsky’s arrest, a new version later emerged being sold on hacking forums.
