UK wasting ‘tens of billions’ on crumbling infrastructure and badly run projects | Public services policy

Britain is wasting billions on poorly managed projects, outdated IT systems and dilapidated infrastructure, the head of the National Audit Office (NAO) will warn. Gareth Davies will suggest potential savings if the government deals with maintenance backlogs and replaces obsolete IT. He will also propose that mega-projects like HS2 and new hospitals could be improved with cross-government oversight. The Ministry of Defence and the Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs were highlighted as relying heavily on archaic IT systems.
