UK wasting ‘tens of billions’ on crumbling infrastructure and badly run projects | Public services policy

The UK is wasting billions due to poorly run projects, outdated technology, and neglected infrastructure, the National Audit Office will propose. In his annual speech, NAO head Gareth Davies will argue that the government could save money by addressing the maintenance backlog and retiring outdated IT systems. His proposed approach for large projects such as the HS2 rail line and new hospitals also includes establishing a cross-government oversight board to better manage risks and hold parties accountable.
