UC Irvine electronic patient-reported outcome tool reduces cancer care disparities

UC Irvine has developed a multilingual electronic tool to improve symptom recognition and management in cancer patients from racial/ethnic minoritized (REM) groups. The tool facilitates symptom reporting with personalized advice from oncology pharmacists, reducing health disparities. It has demonstrated success in the early identification of symptoms like pain and nausea, especially among REM patients receiving chemotherapy. This approach is expected to contribute in decreasing the health disparities faced by REM populations.
