According to a survey conducted by the Office of the National Coordinator for Health IT, the majority of American consumers have concerns over the privacy and security of their medical records. About three-quarters of respondents were either very or somewhat concerned. Additionally, 10 percent of respondents withheld information from their healthcare provider due to these concerns. Despite these worries, 76 percent of respondents still wanted healthcare providers to use electronic health records.
