Trust is the most important factor for Britis

A study from Queen Mary University of London shows the South Asian community in the UK could benefit from personalised genetic testing for medication usage. Despite South Asians making up 10% of the British population, they are under-represented in genomics studies. Many South Asians have higher rates of conditions like diabetes and heart disease. DNA testing to personalise medication regimes can reduce side effects and increase effectiveness. Trust plays a key role in genomics engagement. Concerns around privacy, data ownership, potential data breaches and increased medication costs must be addressed.
