The Dallas-based hospital operator Steward Health Care is closing a medical center in Texas due to underutilization of services, amid signs of financial distress. This follows closures of other facilities in the US, unpaid bills, and a pending lawsuit filed by the federal government. Steward, which operates 33 hospitals in eight states, had 10.2 days of cash on hand in 2023.
