Triptans better at relieving migraine pain than recently marketed and more expensive drugs

Drugs called triptans are the most effective treatment for managing acute migraine episodes among adults, according to a meta-analysis in BMJ. The research suggests these drugs should be included in the World Health Organization’s Essential Medicines List to improve global access and care. Triptans were found to be more effective than newer marketed drugs, which demonstrated effectiveness similar to non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs.
